Tropical Typhoons: Are you at Risk? #wdrrisk

Typhoon season has already started in the Philippines, and the past couple of years the country has seen terrible damages from Ondoy/Ketsana and Yolanda/Haiyan. I chose to make a resource on typhoon season (imo calling it “rainy season” is an understatement), how to mitigating some of its risks, and volunteerism.

Happy New Year !!!

This year, my space is both smaller and bigger. The last quarter of 2012 was marked by inactivity on this blog. There have been changes in my personal life and a good amount of my energy shifted towards family priorities.

I was in the middle of a move – again, and move around a bit more now a days. My apartment now is smaller, but has more sunlight and is in a safer neighborhood. I don’t always stay there though tending to be closer to and more frequently visiting Angeles. So there is a bit more space in that regard.

This blog is still going in the same direction however: homesteading, DIY, and a fascination for things made from scratch.

I wanted this blog to do well, and its starting to get there. Despite the aforementioned inactivity I’m getting 5-15 hits a day! Its not a huge number like some extremely popular sites get but I’m happy that people are reading the stuff here and that it’s hopefully been helpful.

So I want to say thank you, and ask you what would you like to see written about here this year ? Some feedback would really help! =)

Day 23: How to make a social networking button

You can easily make your own buttons and code it in to your blog. Since i am on wordpress, Java script is a no-no. So this post outlines how to put up social networking buttons in HTML friendly language. The same process applies to stitching in a regular linked button as well!

Pantone Colour of the Year Social Media Icons set featured above by Isa Seminaga is available for free at her website. Its a nice sleek minimalist set, and I would have used them but honey suckle and tangerine are a few shades different from Bueno default pink. Continue reading

Update

I got tired of having to post a shorthand version on my personal blog so im going to integrate this with melangepasticcio.wordpress.com

I’m not deleting this site since WordPress doesn’t do well with restoring deleted blogs. They have their reasons, and its logical. but i want to hang on to the domain name just incase. So thats that. amen.

Hello world!

IMG_1309

This is my hello bento.

Bento contains:

  • Sliced radish
  • Leaf salad with tomato and capers
  • Oreos
  • Tamagoyaki
  • Mini – Whole Wheat Pancakes
  • Nutella
  • Home made fromage blanc

My bento posts and other random food posts are on my old site. I use it mostly for updates now and I’m not sure if I will continue posting about bentos.

I would hate to have to make another site for bentos on top of the two I just made. I’m quite busy with real life and still reorganizing my digital life so who knows what I’ll eventually do.

Do drop me a line with suggestions or what you want to see =) Anyways, ahoy! maties. We’re on for a ride together. A yummy food ride.
