Day 11: More pretty things in photos. iPhoneography

Photography is considered art, and now questions are being raised about iPhones and phonography (re: iPhoneography ) as an art.

This topic is news to me. What do you think about Phoneography? what makes it a different medium from photography

I LOVE iPhoneography. I’m just starting to get the hang of all the apps and how to get a bit more artistic with my photos. I still feel traditional photography is the way to go when you’re looking to print photos. I look at iPhoneography as more of the “fun” side of photography and traditional photography as the “serious” side of an extremely fun activity (if that makes sense). I love iPhoneography for posting on the social networks more easily and sharing with friends and family (although you, of course, can do both with Photography). I guess I would say, iPhoneography is my quick fix while Photography is something I give more of my time to and take much more seriously. 😀

There are several artists on instagram that have good art as well that kind of push the capabilities of the medium. And its nice to see it slowly become accepted as an art medium. Your iPhoneography is lovely! =)

Yes the apps are interesting though i haven’t found my perfect “app that does all”. I enjoy the convenience of not having to lug around a DSLR and still take a good shot. My photos from june (except the linked ones) were taken with an iphone. Mostly exposure adjustments and white balance editing.

Do you know any good apps for white balancing?

I’m the same with the apps. I think I have like 50+ apps. I usually use anywhere from 2 to 5 different ones on a photo. The one app I do like for white balance and exposure adjustments (which I’m sure you know of) is the Camera+. Other than that, I usually post edit that. Your photos are amazing. I recently started following a bunch of iPhone artists on Instagram to get inspired and enjoy their photography. Some (like yourself) I am blown away by … you’d never know the photos they do are with the iPhone. I love your blog and I’m really looking forward to following your posts. 😀

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂 I’m going to try camera+. I have been using almost DSLR, but i was choosing between the two.

Aw shucks 🙂 I’m glad you like the photos, I’m still pretty new to food photography.
